Isolator Workzone Barrier
March 2009

The Isolator Workzone barrier is the latest innovation in concrete workzone barriers providing superior design, rapid installation and driver confidence. Manufactured by Ingal Civil Products, Isolator has been fully crash tested and evaluated according to specifications for Test Level 3 (TL3) of the US National Cooperative Highway Research Program Report 350 (NCHRP Report 350).

Rigorous crash testing was undertaken with a 2270kg pickup truck travelling at 100km/h and 25 degrees. Isolator performed outstandingly well, recording just 1.5m deflection.

Isolator’s ability to limit deflection makes it ideal for situations where fixed objects or other roadside hazards are located within close proximity to the barrier. This makes Isolator ideal for narrow corridors on high volume roadways where positive traffic separation is required with limited space available to accommodate deflection.

The Isolator has identical ends and does not require any pins, connection plates or bolts. The simplified Isolator connection reduces the possibility of faulty connections due to loose hardware that may have been vandalised, damaged or omitted. This allows the Isolator to be rapidly deployed and eliminates the risks associated with traditional concrete barriers.

The vertical lift feature facilitates easy site access for construction vehicles and enables deployment and removal to commence at any point along the barrier system.

Barriers are manufactured 810mm high x 610mm wide and are available in 4m or 6m segments. Isolator can be field curved to radiuses of 30m (4m segment) and 45m (6m segment).

Ingal Civil Products has offices located throughout Australia.
