Ingal’s range of Spring Steel Buff as are specifi cally designed for applications where protection is required from heavy vehicle glancing blows and low speed perpendicular impacts. Traditional bolt-down rigid post systems provide no energy absorption upon impact resulting in damage to the barrier and post foundations. Ingal’s Spring Steel Buff as absorb impact energy, thereby reducing the pullout forces on the holding down bolts. Fewer holding down bolts are therefore required, resulting in an easier to install system and minimal damage to the impacting vehicle and barrier.

An Ingal Spring Steel Post is manufactured from high-grade spring steel and is heat-treated for strength and fl exibility. A spring steel post can defl ect upon impact reducing the forces transferred to the anchor bolts by up to 75%. This absorption of energy allows the post to be installed with only one anchor bolt whilst still complying with Australian Standard car park loading requirements.

These designs generally involve rigid posts attached to the deck of the car park. These posts are often expensive to manufacture and require substantial holding down bolts. Their installation can lead to the damage of the slab reinforcement and increases susceptibility to water and chemical ingress. These post designs rarely accommodate screens and handrails and they do not absorb impact energy.

The Ingal Spring Steel Post, with only one anchor bolt per post, is extremely easy to install. The post and rail design is available with mesh infi ll panels and handrails providing compliance to the BCA. The width of the system can be as little as 80mm, meaning valuable fl oor space is conserved. The open design allows light infi ltration and does not inhibit cross fl ow ventilation.”
