The ET2000 Motorcyclist Protection Shield is a protective enhancement installed on the ET2000 Plus guardrail end terminal to reduce the chances of serious injury to motorcyclists and pillion passengers in impacting the terminal.
Traditional highway safety barriers, installed on road carriageways to restrain vehicles from impacting roadside hazards can sometimes introduce hazards to motorcyclists and other vulnerable road users. The ET2000 Motorcyclist Protection Shield is a new product to help mitigate some of these hazards and increase visibility. The shield conceals some of the openings and snag points on the traffic side of the extruder head, inhibiting an errant motorcyclist from getting caught in these snag points. The design also includes a cap for Post 1, removing another snag point. Installation of the protection shield is via two tabs which clip into the trailing end of the extruder head and two screws into the top of the extruder head.
