About the Project
The Bunbury Outer Ring Road (BORR) Project, the largest road upgrade initiative in Western Australia, is a 27-kilometre, four-lane road that will connect Forrest Highway to Bussell Highway. We are proud to be supplying all the guardrails for this significant infrastructure project, excluding the end treatments
Solution
Provide flexible,
reliable solar trackers offering system production increases of up to 25% compared to
fixed-tilt systems to maximize energy yield.
The project is divided into two phases: the Northern Stage, which involves 30 km of guardrail installation, and the Southern Stage, covering 14 km. So far, we have supplied approximately 29 km of guardrail for the Northern Stage, with most of it already installed. Work on the Southern Stage is yet to begin, but the project is on track for completion by December 2024.
In a nod to the local Indigenous heritage, the Bunbury Outer Ring Road will be officially named the Wilman Wadandi Highway upon its opening. The name pays tribute to the Wilman and Wadandi people, who have historically inhabited the lands at both ends of the project. Extensive consultation with the project’s Aboriginal Heritage Advisory Group, Local Government Authorities, the Noongar Language Centre, and Landgate has been ongoing since February 2021 to select the name.
The naming process also identified Aboriginal names for sections of the Collie, Preston, and Ferguson Rivers, as well as naming four local bridges within the project. These names hold cultural significance, reflecting the rich history and stories of the region. Our contribution of 29 km of guardrail plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of this transformative highway project.
