It is an important extension to the existing Liverpool to Parramatta Transitway which began operation in 2004. NWT has two routes: Parramatta to Rouse Hill and Blacktown to Parklea with a future extension planned from Parklea to Castle Hill. The two routes intersect at Burns Road and Old Windsor Road where a major a bus interchange will be constructed. The project involved 12 bridges and approximately 24km of new shared busway pavement. There are 30 bus stations along the two routes and several project interfaces with other major infrastructure projects, such as Westlink M7 and the Windsor Road Upgrade.
