The
4F-T is a flared, single-sided, redirective and gating
end terminal suitable for both approach and departure applications. Tested to
MASH TL3 at its full system length of 10.48m, providing flexibility across a wide range of road environments.
Installed with a 1.22m flare, the 4F-T reduces nuisance impacts while minimising the length of barrier required to shield roadside hazards. With a total system length of just 10.48 m, it is the shortest MASH-tested flared end terminal available, making it ideally suited to constrained shoulders, narrow corridors, and retrofit projects.
During head-on impacts, the 4F-T dissipates energy through its integrated energy-absorbing technology, reducing impact severity for vehicle occupants. In length-of-need side impacts, the system is designed to contain and safely redirect vehicles in accordance with MASH performance criteria. Testing demonstrated a well-contained debris field, supporting safer outcomes for both road users and maintenance crews.
The Beginning Length-of-Need is established at Post 4, located 3.81m from Post 1, enabling effective redirection performance early in the system. Only Post 1 requires a deeper 1.83m embedment, with all remaining posts installed at 1.02m, supporting efficient installation without compromising performance.
Manufactured with hot-dip galvanised steel components, the 4F-T is designed for long-term durability in exposed roadside environments. The system utilises standard W-beam profiles with consistent 1.27m post spacing, allowing straightforward integration with existing guardrail infrastructure.
Each 4F-T terminal is supplied with a curved W-beam transition rail, enabling seamless connection to:
